The corner

Behold the studio corner. this is where I paint smaller stuff !. On the table is a Jamie Hewlett -Ashley Wood jam piece, Jamie pencilled, I then painted over them with oil. You cant really see but it has a Fabry kind of feel.. You will also notice the N.C. Wyeth bio on the top of the table, Awesome artist, cool book. Now let your eyes swing to the right, you will notice a a sketch book with a paint sketch of the Wyeth cover. Of course mine has robots and shit in it. That book has many future paintings in it.

Drawin with tank girl...

Now for anyone who has seen my more recent original art, you will notice on the ink drawings there are no pencil under drawings. The reason for this is two fold, 1_my wanting to speed up my output, and I don't fancy drawing things twice. 2-the desire to force myself to draw better, no safety nets of under drawings. When I first started this, the results were varied, and influnced more by sheer luck than skill. Over the last 4 years I have seen my drawing ability get better and the general quality of my line work improve.

I really recommend everyone giving it a go. maybe it will help, maybe it will drive you to an early grave. Some artists that I respect for their ink skills are Joe Kubert, Jim Holdaway, Alex Nino, and Alberto Breccia. Go check em out if you dont know their work.

Regarding the Tank Girl illo, I started it with no real idea of where I was going. I began drawing the helmet and took it from there, misfired on the legs ,but nothing a shot of whiteout cant fix.

if you are so inclined...

The tease

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the feedback on my blog, Im taking it all in and will start changing things up!

One more thing

Do you guys only care about seeing new art, reading my musings about art, insights into my day... I dunno, tell me what you guys want to see more of ?

Dayglo

Hope you guys enjoyed Tank Girl #1, I had real fun doing it, but alas due to time constraints and blackholes, my buddy Rufus Dayglo has come on board to help with the load( issues 2-4 ). From issue 2 you can experience his work. I handle color and finishes. A big thanks to Rufus!

Other news, mmm, ah, new prints this week at Bambaland... I guess thats it for today.

El Mort

Thursday, June 07, 2007

Some ZvR prequel stuff, as in Dairain Aventure 3 !

Speaking of Dairain, I just saw some prototype work on the upcoming 12" Les Mort 13 figure.. Getting figures made has been a tough run so far. I have finally found a top bunch of guys that have the experience and skill to bring my robots and other characters to life. You will be able to check em out at SDCC in July and of course images will be posted on this blog.

48+ nudes should be in stores soon, I am very proud of the book, but if your afraid of nudity dont buy it !

Ill be at SDCC this year, hanging around the IDW booth, so please drop by and tell me how much you adore me ! or not...

And just so you know, my long time coming book, "Art and Ideas" book, is well, still coming... it will be worth the wait...

Oh yea, the Popbot movie is moving along well, with some exciting stuff to see soon!

blah blah..

blah.
