Well I'm back... and I have to say a big ass thanks to everyone that came by to say hello!! It was the best con for me ever!!! Everyone that saw the WWR prototypes seemed to want one, which is very encouraging! I can say that the first release of the robot will be in December. Info and ordring details will be available soon. There are some more cool happenings regarding WWR but I'm going to hold off for now.
So I guess it's back to grind, Popbot, D'Airain, Mystery Society, T-shirts, toys, skateboards, videogames they're all demanding my attention.
Again thanks to everyone. I'm extremely privileged to have an audience.

On the Road Again...
The SDCC has been so much fun this year and we're going to miss all of our friends, it's hard to say goodbye. The most we can do is promise to visit you all again soon. Thank you to all of the team at IDW, as always, for making this trip a memorable experience and, never say never, we may just see you all next year for SDCC 2008!
The blog should be back to normal by the end of the week - I might stay on to write it while Ash continues to take pics of new work and we reveal the details for exciting new projects as they come to light. For those of you who have been following the blog for awhile, you ain't seen nothing yet!

Thank You
We'd just like to thank all of you who turned up to the Stuart Ng signing. The turn out was fantastic and Ash enjoyed meeting and signing for all of the people that turned up. We'll have more updates in a few hours time, hopefully with some photos.
If anyone knows of any You Tube videos that might have popped up from the Live Art session at the Kava Lounge could you please email Ash and drop us the link and we'll post it here for everyone to see.
In other news we've been asked up to the Phillipines and this follows on the heels of a previous invitation to South Korea. We've been aware for some time that Ash's book sales in each of these countries is significant and we're not ruling out a visit in the future to either of these places.
More updates soon.

Missed Out on Dinner....
Ash was unable to attend a planned dinner at the Greystone restaurant tonight. After a long day his schedule ran way over. Ash was supposed to appear here with artists Tim Biskup and Mark Ryden - guys go grab him tomorrow and hit him up for curly fries and beer - he was bummed about missing this dinner.
Stuart NG Signing Saturday
A reminder to all of you who are attending the SDCC - Ash will be signing at the Stuart NG booth Saturday between the hours of 11am to 1pm. Get there early because if previous signings are any indication there's going to be a crowd.
Live Art!
What a show! Ash got back to his hotel room completely knackered and covered in gold paint. The club was small, loud and packed to the gills. With live DJ's and a live Rap act the club went off. Ash painted two large canvases, the second of which was a collaboration with artist Scott Morse. The atmosphere was lively and extremely upbeat with the audience cheering the artists' every move.
Ash attended this event for the first time this year and it was a total buzz. He spent two hours up the front of the club with his fellow artists Scott Morse, Food One, David Mack and Dumper Foo who painted their asses off for the appreciative crowd.
We'd like to thank everyone involved for what turned out to be an excellent night.
Oh yeah and I'd like to thank Ash's Japanese crew who had the good sense to take him out for a light meal of sushi before the show. A big shout out to Rick and Yumiko from JEA, come out to Australia and see us soon.

Sightings
Todays sightings include... Howard Chaykin. I remember when we first came to America to live for the first time and we took a trip up to Los Angeles to meet Howard Chaykin. Ash has always loved Chaykin's work and so to meet him at that time, go to his house and have lunch at a swanky eatery was something special and we've never forgotten. So it was nice to see him again.
A couple of years later we ran into Howard at the SDCC, at the time he was walking around with the amazing Will Eisner who despite his advancing age always had something distinctly sprightly and teenager about him. I remember this meeting not only because we'd run into Chaykin again but because Eisner, who refused to stay stuck in the past, had bought a computer tablet to experiment with and was complaining about it's new fangledness and to take out his frustration (purely in jest) he decided to hit Ash over the head with it, I'll never forget that either because it was simply hillarious.
Other sightings included writer Brett Lewis and artist John Paul Leon, creators of the comic The Wintermen. Ash maintains that The Wintermen is a seminal work that everyone should hunt down and read. Pure brilliance.
And speaking of things to read and enjoy please do not forget that the Image 24/7 Robot book is now available, Ash is a contributor to this book, he got a hold of a copy of that book today and he thinks it's really good - so don't miss out.

More Toy News
With all the Bertie news going on we didn't want to overlook the fact that we are also producing a Les Mort 13 figure with the irrepressible Howard Lee, a toymaster from How To Work Toys. The figure is still in the prototype stage and Ash will be uploading initial pictures of the figure soon.
On another note we are pleased to announce that Ash, Three Zero and Big Shot Toys will soon be teaming up to produce a Bambalad figure in the near future.

Adhouse Must Haves
Ash ran into the talented Chris Pitzer today, Chris is the owner of the Adhouse publishing group, a book company that is known for stylish, high quality product and excellent books. There are books from Adhouse that Ash wants everyone to know about and thoroughly recommends, the first is the Paul Pope art book out now and the second is the James Jean art book also out now. Both books I am told are brilliant and definately worth owning.

Can it get any cooler?
Three Zero

Meet Kim from Three Zero, the guy in the background is Klim from Big Shot taking a pic of Ash taking a pic. Kim and the team at Three Zero are also responsible for bringing you Bertie.
For those of you who don't know Kim and his company Three Zero have been at the forefront of the Hong Kong designer toy market for a long time now and are one of the original and world renowned, toy producers in the field.
Wall of Art
Klim K

Bertie the robot is so gansta that he even has his own producer! That's right biaches meet Klim K.
Klim (he's Russian like Vodka) K is the CEO and founder of Big Shot Toy Works who have spent the last few months working hard to bring you Bertie.
Get ready to see more of Klim and Big Shot Toy Works on this blog in the near future.
And as for Bertie we'd like to assure you that rumours about his fraternising in elevators with Bratz dolls during the con are entirely untrue.
Yay Photos!

We have our photos back! And to start it all off here is a picture of a grey Bertie standing in his display cabinet as SDCC. The interesting thing about this photo is that it shows Bertie wearing his accessories, he comes with a rain cape and guns (naturally).
Bertie is set to have wide distribution and fans in Europe will be happy to know that Bertie will be available to you too.
Live Art Reminder
Just a quick reminder Live Art goes off Friday night with live DJ's and of course art. The event starts after 10pm.
Thursday Wrap Up
It's not yet the weekend and yet the traffic of people seen today rivalled any Saturday that we've ever attended. The IDW signing that took place today lasted for four and a half hours, as previously mentioned it was only ended by books selling out. At times the line extended from the IDW booth all the way down the aisle to the Top Cow booth.
So far Ash has spent most of his time signing, meeting and greeting but somewhere in there he has also managed to see some old friends and make some new ones. A highlight of Ash's day today was catching up with the legendary Neal Adams, (always a pleasure to see and talk to) and he also caught up with Steve Niles...
As many of you know Ash and Steve have worked together on and off since their McFarlane days and have kept up with each other over the years and now are planning to launch an exciting new project together. We are pleased to announce that Steve and Ash will be producing a new ongoing series in the new year entitled The Mystery Society and it's going to be a lot of fun. We will announce more details as they become available.
Bertie is also proving to be a hit at the convention with many people asking when he will be available. The closest answer we can give you, at this time, is that the plan is to get the figure out there by Christmas i.e sometime in December, again, as more details emerge we will post them here.
I would personally like to thank the "Mythology lady", as she has become known, for the wonderful comments she made about my work on the Lore series. I'm sorry I wasn't there to meet you myself and to all of the Lore fans who have stopped by. I am pleased to announce that I am working on a new full length novel to be published by IDW sometime in 2008. Watch this space.
We have so many exciting announcements to make over the next month or two that this blog is going to read like a newspaper, Ash and I also have a super exciting personal event coming up which we will announce at a more appropriate date also.
More tomorrow - and photos - when we get the wi fi nonsense sorted out again.
Cheers!

IDW Signing
Thank you to everyone who attended Ash's IDW signing today, it attracted quite the crowd and only ended when books sold out. Ash enjoyed meeting, talking to and sketching for everyone and will soon be appearing at Stuart Ng booth for a Saturday signing. More updates really soon.
Meet the Eders.

Meet a couple of our favourite New Yorkers, Scott and Marsha Eder. As many art collectors know Scott is one of the most professional and respected art dealers in the business and this year sees him expand into the gallery market in NYC as he is now officially an art gallery owner. There's no word yet on opening dates but Ash is already planning a major NY exhibition in 2008, which we hope that you will all come and see. More pics soon.
Wednesday Correction...
Smack my hand for spelling and getting my tenses wrong - Ash has informed me that he saw the "preview" of Beowulf as opposed to "Beowolf" - Well 'scuse me for being new to this blog thing already... No but seriously folks we owe it to the fabulous Mr. Gaiman to get it right and I also owe it to the fabulous Mr. Wood not to make him look like an eejit.
So for all of you who were wondering - here is the link to the Beowulf site - enjoy:)

SDCC Wednesday
This post is sans images due to a Wi fi technical difficulty - photos of the con should start tomorrow.
SDCC 2007 is now officially open for business and word is that the con is attracting record sized crowds. The atmosphere inside the hall was hot and sweaty and there is already a whole lot of shoving going on. If you're planning to attend this year's con, as always, be super mindful if you're taking your kids.
This evening Ash attended the premier screening of Neil Gaiman's Beowulf. According to Ash the movie was a brilliant piece of work and anyone and everyone who gets the chance should go and see it. The screening was in CG and in 3D and was quite the special event, Ash's final word on the movie is that it is stunning and of the high quality you would expect with anything that Neil Gaiman is involved with. Neil spoke about the script at the premier, an added treat for fans.
Ash also spent some of the day catching up with old friends, in this case Imaginary Friends! For those of you who don't already know, the Imaginary Friends are a brilliant studio based in Singapore, they have a book of their work out this year in time for the con so hunt it down. Ash also caught up with his homeslice Ben Templesmith, both Ash and Tempie will be appearing at the IDW booth throughout the con.
The day was topped off with another sweet treat for Ash who purchased a beautiful piece of Dave McKean art.
More tomorrow and hopefully with photos this time...

Travelling...
SDCC Begins...

The SDCC officially starts this Wednesday night, Ash's bags are packed and the con reports will start soon. If you are going to the show and are interested in seeing Ash's large original paintings then head over to the Scott Eder booth where these will be on display. If you can't make it Ash will take pictures which will be posted here in the coming days.
The only downside to the convention this year is that due to the travelling schedule, Ash was unable to attend the MGS 20th anniversary party at the Ritz in Tokyo. However we would like to take a moment to congratulate Kojima-San and Team Kojima and all of the team at Konami Japan on this milestone event.
The picture accompanying this post is of a 14 inch Bertie Robot, which will also be on display along with his black ops cousins. Again there will be more pictures of Bertie at the show so stay tuned.

A Bamberlass announcement

San Diego Con is just around the corner and Ash and I have decided to do something a little different this year. Usually people tune into Ash’s blog expecting new pictures and a few words, however from the 24th of July through to the end the Con we will be putting this blog into overdrive. It’s not enough that we get to go along and experience the cacophony and the clusterfuck surrounding San Diego Con, this year we have decided to take you all with us, (no we’re not paying your airfares, but you can read about and enjoy the journey right here).
In order for this to work, the artist of few words will be temporarily replaced by the artist’s wife, (me), a woman of many words, so expect a few tomes from the 24th onwards. Visuals will be coming at you from Ash, as always, but this year you’ll be seeing the Con through the eyes of his camera instead of his brush. Everything that is cool will be photographed and posted along with descriptions, anecdotes and pictures of artists and people you’re probably not going to see anywhere else.
Barring any technical difficulties we plan to make this San Diego Con one that we can share with all of you who cannot make it this year or may not have been before.
See you all there… TP Louise
