Go and buy a Ratcat album, awesome band from the late 80's australian scene. One of the loudest gigs I have heard was by them. Tight Oz guitar pop.

It's been quite a shitty week, very bummed not to see France! I have to say thanks for the awesome support I continually get, (and for Bambaland).

Update on the Artist...

Ash is feeling a little better but is still not 100%. After a bit of a bummer day things are getting back to normal here. Ash is very much wishing that he was in France but it wasn't to be. He's planning to put his feet up over the weekend and hopefully he will be back to work and taking the blog back over sometime next week, preferrably before I molly coddle him to death:)

Poster #2 Has Arrived.

Over the summer here we decided to launch a series of posters via Bambaland. Poster #2 arrived today and we're very happy with it, the printing is excellent and the poster itself is second only to owning the original art. The poster is A2 in size with a matt varnish on thick 200GSM paper. We wanted to produce a high quality poster for a reasonable price so that everyone could hang a bit of Ash's art on the wall. The other posters are coming soon. You can check out the new arrival over at Bambaland.com.

Last Minute Cancellation

We'd like to apologise to all of Ash's fans in France, but the artist has been forced to make a detour in his journey and unexpectedly return home. Unfortunately this means that he will miss his series of flight connections and will not be able to make it to see you all in France this weekend.

Ultimately the decision was made due to health concerns and events are totally beyond our control at this moment in time.

We encourage everyone to head up to Valenciennes regardless, as Ben Templesmith can easily carry the show solo and is still on his way.

Blogging France!

Yes folks this week we shall be blogging France. The Comics and Pop Culture Convention - Fifth Edition kicks off in Northern France with a line up not seen since... the The Two Ronnies last went on tour. But seriously folks, you will once again get to travel with Ashley Wood, whom today, in order to put the wind up his mother's nose announced that he was officially changing his name to Mars Explorer. Needless to say that Mrs Wood Snr was most unimpressed and so Ash decided to add that as a compliment to his new name our new baby son will be named Mars Astronaut with new names to follow shortly for our other two sons.

And it is official Ash, your 300th post was just hijacked by your Missus!

If you have not ever checked out John Singer Sargent's work before, go google it, one of the greats !!! When people ask about inspiration and influence Ol JSS is at the top of the list ! One of the most important painting lessons, tip I have ever garnered was from JSS, DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH ONE TYPE OF BRUSH STROKE. In other words mix those strokes up !

Here is the popbot canvas im pounding away at, wood panels are sooooo much easier.. Still its taking shape etc etc.If you look at the earlier version you can see the changes that have occured. Normally throughout creating a painting I change things a lot as I go, its a searching process that I find ultimately more satisfying than locking it all down with a must be followed idea...
