Wrap Up
It is a mere 24 hrs now until I hand this blog back to the other half of my orange. SDCC is over for us for another year and this one was so busy and intense it flew by lightning fast. I'd hoped to bring you all more news, (not that we didn't have a ton of things to talk about and announce prior - toys, book editions etc.) Thing is most of our news this year will be subject to official announcements at SDCC next year Ah ha! Alas I am not allowed to even hint at the excitement, you're just going to have to stay tuned to this blog for the next 12 months or so...
Ash wants to thank everyone who turned up, he enjoyed meeting you all and I'm told he's going to need to rest his hand for at least a week due to all the sketches he did this year. The fun is not all over for us yet though as we are hosting some of our friends at Bambaland real soon and I'm told that there will be some deep sea fishing involved... (No really, with a boat and everything.) I'll make sure Ash captures that one with a proper SLR as the cell phone camera is a weenie when it comes to lighting (as proved at the IDW party!)
Special thanks to Ted Adams and the IDW crew for taking good care of Ash and I'd like to send lots of love to Stephanie for generously opening her home. A big thank you to everyone in the U.S who've supported us this year. Bon Voyage to our jet setting pals who came from Europe and the UK and a big see you soon to our friends from Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Keep it here folks - if you think 2008 was big you ain't seen nothing yet!

Friday Update
The Friday IDW signing was monster huge, thanks to everyone who turned up. Ash will be signing at the Toy Tokyo booth this afternoon - If you missed out on the earlier signing don't miss this one, the IDW signing was so big that Ash is well on his way to feeling wiped and he's got just a little signing left in him before he takes off for some well deserved down time. There are more photos coming up, they'll be posted at the end of the day. We also had some more exciting news today but like with everything it's another NDA until it's all worked out. As for all of you who are wondering about the Bramble Mk2 1:1 all I'm going to say is this: Yes you can! (Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!)
Smile You're...

... subject to a big fat NDA. Our agents (JEA) are smiling in this photo and that's a good thing. Official announcements regarding this good cheer and more sometime in the next six months, sorry, but the good news is at least Ash will be back in the studio producing original pics to go with all of the update posts.
Red Letter Day

The IDW party was huge, with about a thousand people in attendance. Everyone who was anyone was there, (including some really exciting surprise guests (who were there unannounced) and we need their permission to post those photos and then Ash took a whole bunch of photos (in the dark!) I should have sent him in there with a bunch of illustration boards and a paint box and the images would have at least represented something!!! Oh my goodness Woody you're going to have to pull it together tomorrow.
So today was a red letter day for us for other reasons. SDCC is a special time of year for people in this industry, there's just something about the atmosphere that comes to San Diego when the SDCC is on that truly makes the place seem especially magical at convention time. Every year people sell their spare stuff on Ebay, save up their paychecks, beg their Moms for money just to go and why? Because it's a happy place and no matter how large and Hollywood it gets when you walk out into Seaport Village and find a spot on the grass to eat a good old fashioned American Hamburger with a bag of fries and a plastic cup full of lite beer, you just get that convention happy feeling and it's addictive. It's special. Besides, it's not everyday you can sit and have a Ben and Jerry's on the green with Darth Vader is it?
Our first con was in 95 and every year that we've been since, there's been some special memory or other to put in the book, our oldest son took his first steps at Comicon! And this year our youngest pulled out his first word, I'm not grumpy about it but for the record it was "Daddy".
So for the kid in all of us out there, I am posting an obligatory Stormtrooper shot. I'm sure that there are other sites that'll be posting a stormtrooper money shot somewhere. Why it is that a member of the Imperials always ends up getting caught on film relieving themselves at least once every con is beyond me. So onto tomorrow, best foot forward and hopefully with more pics.

Busy, Busy Thursday
The convention center is officially packed to the gills. Ash just wanted to thank everyone who turned up for his Thursday IDW signing, he signed and sketched for three hours non stop. There are more scheduled signings coming up and we should be posting more photos really soon, the weekend should be a boon for updates. Stay tuned for an exclusive insider eye view of some of the parties, dinners and events that Ash will be attending and more.

SDCC: IDW Features Bramble
Bramble has officially arrived at the SDCC and is now on display at the IDW booth. Here are some pics of the Bramble bot that will be available in October, consider this an advance preview. The first three pics are of Bramble from various angles the fourth pic features Kim from HK's Three Zero and of course 3A.
Just a quick note - yes there is a life size Bramble on display, I will post pics of it tomorrow. Ash was going to upload some pictures today but was approached by one guy wanting his book signed, what ensued was an impromptu signing for sixty - Yes folks it's going to be a very, very busy weekend!!!

SDCC Preview Night Scott Eder #415
Wednesday night at the Scott Eder booth #415. Two pics for you, the first is a shot of the limited edition print and the second is a shot of Scott at his booth with some originals. If you're attending SDCC don't forget to stop by and see Scott's booth, I know a lot of you look at the art on the blog and email about it but it's second only to seeing the real thing and this is one of those opportunities.

A Mid Afternoon Side Trip To...

At the airport...
In Transit
Transit... transit... transit...
I'm officially starting our SDCC blog right now and I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who subscribes to the blog, has supported us through the years and has kept a vested interest in Ash's work. This year is a particularly special one, without a doubt our biggest ever. This year's con sees Ash turning up with a very large guest courtesy of "Rothchild" and 3A, it also sees the release of quite a collection of hardcover books which will debut at the con, not to worry if you can't make it, they will available everywhere after that. We've also got a ton of photographs coming up. Keep it here and you'll hopefully get to see the hubbub without the crush of the crowds, the heat and the sweat. The warmth and sunshine should at least be a welcome change for Ash, we've had the gas heater on all week in the studio, it snowed on Monday!

SAN DIEGO CON EXCLUSIVE
San Diego Here We Come!!!
Hi Everybody,
It's that time of year again when we jet off to the pop culture wonderland that is the San Diego Comicon.
The Con is officially sold out this year and with the price of air tickets and gas through the roof we know that not everyone is going to be able to make it - so we hope in our own way to be able to bring some of the experience to you via this blog starting Tuesday this week. Please note that the aforementioned experience will be concentric to Ash/3A/Bambaland and our dealings and anything else that we think is cool.
Stay tuned for regular updates, the Con officially starts Wednesday Night U.S Pacific time.
