oh yea

Not wanting my art blog to be jammed with anything but art, I have started a new twitter which will basically cover everything ashley wood and T P Louise. Art, toys, movies, cats etc.

the twitter name is RealAshleyWood

please hope on board, nothing there yet but there will be soon !

OH WAIT

I never mentioned knickers..

mmm

Well knickers are great when they are one size too small, cutting in a little, creating more curves n shit.

there, all done.

Robot films and knickers...

So there is talk of Robot films these days, I have been a Robot enjoy-er-rer for a long time, actually since the day I got chicken pox, waaaay back in the 70's. To help quell my rapidly spot-er-fying nightmare, my awesome mum got me my first robot toy I can remember. The robot in question was a Zeroid, the grey one. Now these were 60's toys, but in Australia back then, that was a current toy ! I played with that sucker, untill it broke a week later, which in turn made my mum buy me a new one ( early note to self, destruction equals new shit ). So yea, there it is, Zeroids are kinda too blame for ashley wood.

Im a super lucky guy, art, toys, movies etc, I have the fortunate dis-position of having Disney and Brucky on point for WWR, Bay and Sony for ZVR, and lets not forget the final part of my first robot trinity, Popbot is being done a different way, ill have more info soon.. its kinda fucking cool...

really..

knowing a good one

When Im painting away, I know a good Ashley Wood painting, way before its finished or has been tweaked with glaze and polish, it just sits right. This landscape is one of those, a way to go still, but I just like it, has the right feel. I need these once and while, like a road sign im going in a right direction etc !

Back From Japan

Just got back from Japan, the Wonder Festival in Chiba for the detail orientated.

I totally feel like the luckiest guy on Earth, I get to make art, toys, visit cool places and meet awesome people, I know everyone loves their Facebook, Twitter and whatnot, but the 3A Legion is the greatest Social Network ever, because it's not virtual and clandestine, but real and in the flesh, and that cannot be beat! I had probably only 1 or 2 friends in school,I was a computer nerd, comic geek, loser etc, didn't fit the mold. But now, I can have dinner with 30 like minded people in foreign countries, ( so in your face school people whose names I cannot remember ), that blows my mind.

It always sucks to feel left-out, fighting alone with your back to the wall. It's cool to have the Legion, and other interested parties in what I and TP do, I don't feel like a tool so much these days!... well maybe a little...

But enough emo rambling, time to work and shit. Paintings have to be painted !

Thanks to everyone, who take time to look, read and take interest. the Nabler says thanks too....

and here is a video of me sketching in Japan, with ThreeZero watching to the right of me, not looking too impressed either, I'm not fond of showing my face etc, but here it goes.

I'm really whacked out tired, so if this spiel doesn't make sense... well..

The Nose On the Artist's Face...

Okay, so some of you may have noticed the glaring obvious by now so I thought I just pop on to say, Yes, Ash has busted his nose... Said nose was busted two hours before he was due to fly and Ash was forced to make a choice between going to the Doctor and going to Japan - he chose Japan. Given that busted noses hurt like hell at 30,000 feet it's just another example of how they breed Aussie guys tough.

Wonderfest

Wonderfest is officially underway, here is the beginning of the line going in... it goes on forever outside.

Take Home Papercraft

Japan

Ash and Kim are all set to meet and greet at the Wonderfest show in Chiba, Japan. Doors open soon. The convention floor, if this gives anyone an idea, is bigger than SDCC!

Last year at the ThreeA Beijing show we unveiled giant fiber glass squares, which are in themselves pieces of art, (because no one square was like another and all were handpainted), but as you can imagine, such things take a long time to produce and so for Wonderfest Goodsmile, (our Japanese hosts), decided to make things a little easier. Japan after all is the home of Origami. All of the giant squares in these photos are paper craft squares!

Update from TP

There are so many new followers on this blog since I last popped up and took it over and so, hello my name is TP and I occasionally blog on Ash's behalf, (about once or twice a year).

So here's the news...

We invite you to join us for two very special exhibitions!

The first, (and more intimate show), will be taking place at the fabulously stylish, GALLERIE DANIEL MAGHEN in Paris, France starting on the 4th of May and running right through to the 21st 2011. This exhibition will feature paintings and drawings in small to medium sizes, (and us!).

The second exhibition will be taking place at the amazing JONATHAN LEVINE GALLERY in New York City in the last quarter of 2012. This exhibition will be a joint showing with the awe inspiring Mr. Jeremy Geddes. The Levine Gallery is a much larger space and the paintings for this show will be much, much bigger and will hopefully make you go... Oooh!

IN OTHER NEWS!

We're in Japan this weekend and hope to blog it but we're not promising anything - so if we post any pics from Japan, we hope you're all pleasantly surprised. If you're in Tokyo come along to Wonderfest and say hello, it's on for one day only, Sunday.

SDCC is a goer also - Ash is an official guest this year - thanks to SDCC.

Huge 3A news coming soon...

And huge, creatively chunky, Aussie related news coming soon too!

Stay tuned,

TP
